Job Title: Tracking Specialist

Job Summary:

The Tracking Specialist is primarily responsible for the support, coordination and tracking of shipments in our internal tracking system. The position serves as the primary resource in maintaining our database on shipments currently in transit. This includes interacting with our carriers, tracking and tracing, and proactively notifying all involved parties of pertinent information. This position also provides support for the Client Services Department on a daily basis.

 

Essential job Functions: 

  • Resolve missed pick-up shipments
  • Research late and possibly late shipments, providing feedback and updates
  • Assist in claims research, contacting clients and carriers to resolve issues relating to damaged or lost freight
  • Complete the daily filters in ViewPoint and update all affected parties
  • Manage both inbound and outbound telephone calls professionally, efficiently and with excellent professional skills
  • Understand and appropriately use predefined company processes and transportation systems

 

In addition to the essential functions listed above, the employee is expected to exercise honesty, integrity and respect with all clients and co-workers, maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, demonstrate a positive attitude, communicate effectively with co-workers and clients, work with accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail, respect the work environment and keep it as neat and clean as possible, and exercise initiative to learn new skills and tasks and to help co-workers when possible.  The employee is also expected to perform such other duties and functions as required from time to time.

 

The Physical Requirements Checklist for this job, which specifies the physical requirements of the job, is attached and is incorporated into this description:

  • Mental abilities are required to compute business math formulas
  • The ability to sit eighty-five percent (85%), of the time in an office environment.
  • Walking is required within the office area
  • The ability to type on a computer for data entry for extended periods of time

Qualifications:

  • College level degree preferred, or at least 1 year experience in transportation or logistics preferred
  • Prior work experience demonstrating experience in building customer service
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Office Suite is required
  • Dependable transportation to/from the office
  • Excellent communication skills, including both written and oral  written and oral command of the English language
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Machines/Tools/Equipment:

Computer, basic office equipment (copier, calculator, fax, etc.),

Working Conditions:

  • The majority of the time (98%) will be spent in an office environment, with no noise and with a controlled temperature. 
  • Other time will be spent in an automobile while driving on business errands and visiting customers and carriers.
